Hi, I’m Katya!

I am a second-year PhD student in the Computer Science department at the University of Illinois Urbana Champaign, with a focus on language and speech processing. I am co-advised by Mark Hasegawa-Johnson and Julia Hockenmaier.

I am interested in:

• Automatic speech recognition for code-switched speech 🔊
• Understanding the linguistic knowledge of LLMs 🧮
• Creating linguistically informed speech and language models 🧠
